Three second legs took place today in Cyprus for the Coca Cola Cup. For the first game of the day it was the game between Omonia Aradippou against Olympiakos. Olympiakos was leading 3-0 in the first leg but Omonia pulled two goals back to make it 3-2 in Nicosia. This made the game today more interesting as Omonia Aradippou still had chances of qualifying.
Olympiakos was the better side in the first half, having most of the possession and chances on goal but they were way off target with all their shots keeping the score 0-0 in the first half. In the second half Omonia Aradippou were the team that started more brightly and came very close to getting a goal with Marinos Andreou who shot just wide. That scared Olympiakos and they switched on their engines again and scored on the 66th minute with a header from Sotiriou.
Olympiakos kept attacking trying to score again and finish the game and unfortunately for Omonia’s Theocharous, the ball deflected off him from an Olympiakos shot and made it 2-0 for Olympiakos. Nothing worth mentioning after that as the score was 5-2 on aggregate and Omonia Aradippou had no chances of turning things around.
For the recond Neofytos Larkou, Omonia’s manager was in the stands spying on Olympiakos since the two teams will meet on Saturday.
For the other two games of the day AEK welcomed Parekklisia in Larnaca and AEP welcomed Alki in Pafos. In the first game AEK won 5-0 and Alki won 2-0 so both teams were qualified from the first leg giving their managers an option to rest players and try different formations as well as give some players more playing time.
Alki showed their superiority and scored 6 against AEP with a hat-trick from Conde, where as Tanasa, Gligorov and Vasconcelos got one each making it 8-0 on aggregate.
AEK must’ve heard Alki’s score and tried to beat it and managed to do so as they won 9-0 on aggregate. Even though AEK didn’t score in the first half, they decided to push it up a notch in the second half and scored four goals. The first came from an own goal from Parekklisia’s Charalambous who when attempting to clear the ball he pushed it in his own net on the 47th minute. After that Parekklisia tried to get a consolation goal but just couldn’t get passed the well organized AEK defense. On the 75th minute Serran caught a header to make it 2-0 and then five minutes later Mitidis made it 3-0. Finally in the first minute of injury time Gregoor van Dijk scored directly from a free kick to make it 4-0 hence a 9-0 aggregate.
