Pavillion in Limassol last night hosted the 11th annual “Men of the year” ceremony organized by Man magazine. All sorts of people attended and performed but the ones that interest us are the football associated ones.
Athlete of the year was won by APOEL’s Constantinos Charalambides after leading his team to th
e last 16 of the Champions league as well as helping his team domestically be in the top four still hoping for a back to back title.
As for the Newcomer of the year award, it was won by Arsenal’s Cypriot Nico Yennaris. Nico went up from the reserves to play for the first team in a few occasions, most importantly against Manchester United. He was solid in defense and the fans urge the manager to use Nico rather than Djourou. Nico couldn’t attend the ceremony but his father and aunt accepted the award in his behalf.
A great recognition for both players!

Well done to Nic and best wishes from his fans. Im glad to have the opportunity to support Nicos with my dedicated facebook fan page. The 1st one created during his days in the Arsenal under-18s. Seeing his progress over the years has delighted myself and many more fans of Arsenal, Cyprus and Nic himself. Maybe one day he can say hello to us
Nice one mate, deserved!
