The Cyprus Football Association Awards 2012 were announced today. APOEL and AEK won the excelle
nce in football award for their performances in Champions League and Europa League respectively.
They also announced the voting results between all the managers in Cyprus for the following:
- Best young footballer: Valentinos Sielis of Anorthosis
- Best footballer: Ailton Almeida of APOEL
- Best manager: Ivan Jovanovic of APOEL
On national team contribution the results were:
- Anorthosis for their youth academy contributions
- APOEL for their first and reserve national team contributions
Nikos Nioplias, the Cyprus National Coach voted for Omonia’s Andreas Avraam as the most valuable player for the national team.
In the youth and reserve championships most valuable players were:
- Grigoris Kastanos of ENP in the U13 Championship.
- Paulos Christodoulou of Olympiakos in the U15 Championship.
- Leandros Lillis of Alki in the U17 Championship.
- Markos Charalambous of APOEL in the U21 Championship.
Best Referees and Assistant Referees:
- Marios Tsaggaris
- Marios Panagi
- Charalambos Charalambous
- Michalis Sotiriou
Honorary Awards:
- To Giannos Okkas of Anorthosis for his contribution in the national team as well as his record appearances of 106.
- To AEL’s goalkeeper Degra for his valuable contribution to AEL winning the Championship.
- Marfin Laiki bank for their contributions in Cyprus football.
- George Meletiou for writing the book “Cyprus Football”
- Costas Papageorgiou for his long-term contribution to Cyprus football as president of Heracles Gerolakkou.
